The Brief
As expected in an older home, most rooms are small and enclosed, with many, many doors! Nothing like the open plan, living, dining and kitchen we look for these days. In a narrow and slim dwelling, like a terrace in this case, floor area is precious and a home with a poor layout can make the place feel even more cramped.
Rossmark’s consideration and challenge was to design an extension and renovation that respected the local street aesthetic and follow heritage conservation guidelines, whilst reconfiguring the space efficiently and accommodate modern needs and amenities.
The Result
The Rossmark Team designed an open living and dining space by widening door openings and maximising light into the narrow dwelling.
Additionally, the upper storey was completely renovated with rooms reconfigured to proportionate and furnished sizes. The wet areas were renovated with product selections aligned with the monochromatic theme. Externally, much-needed parking was incorporated into the combined yard space and the street facade was refreshed retaining the terrace natural charm.
