Project

Stage 2 – Home renovation, Caringbah South – Sutherland Shire Council

Renovations

Caringbah South, Sutherland Shire   $350K - $550K
3 young adults

The Brief

Returning for another project, our client wanted a total interior home renovation. This time, to the existing lower level of the home and a refresh to the upper storey.
Additionally, the brief includes structural alterations, as the renovation will see the kitchen being repositioned. This project involves creation of a unique carer’s area. Within the floor plan, the challenge is to provide visual and acoustic privacy as required.

The Result

The Rossmark team worked with our client to understand the specific needs relating to the home renovation.
In particular, we designed a 3-way cavity door system that adapts to different levels of privacy as needed. This provides the flexibility required by both the home occupant and the carer. When privacy is not required as much, it opens up into the kitchen and living, providing a true sense of connection.
The renovation included relocating the kitchen to the centre of the floor plan. The kitchen is equipped with a butler’s pantry built under the stairs, to make use of the space.
The rear external wall of the home was structurally altered to accommodate large format bifold doors, these doors connect the home to the renovated terrace. Extensive consideration was given to the design of circulation around spaces, particularly surrounding the kitchen, the heart of the home. This will accommodate large gatherings for family and friends, allowing seamless flow from room to room and to the outdoors, too.

What the client said

We previously built a freestanding cabana/granny flat with Rossmark on our property and had no hesitation in asking them to help us renovate and make our home more functional and accessible for our family without increasing the overall footprint. There was always clear communication and updates. The build was fully costed but we also had the ability to make personal selections. Rossmark calmly got things done and always included us in all stages of the renovation. They have established relationships with suppliers and tradesman ensuring that the build was expertly coordinated and premium products were used. We also took the opportunity to cosmetically update the other rooms in the house and it now feels like a brand new build. Renovating was a huge undertaking but the end result is better than we could have ever imagined. We are grateful for the kindness and professionalism of the Rossmark team throughout the whole process, and for the beautifully renovated, refreshed and renewed home we now enjoy!
